We visited Xenses, the sensory park “where nothing is what it seems”. It was a fun day out exploring all our senses, not just the regular Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch, but also Movement and Body Position.
Sight
There were many examples of how easily the sight can be distorted.
Colours creating 3D effects, Patterns creating dept, distances creating size distortion.
Sound
There were various areas with sounds imposed on the visitor, such as a big room with a heart that beat and synchronised with your heartbeat.
Smell
We encountered a lot of smells all around, but mostly in the lemon garden where there were lots of lemon trees and other flowers.
Taste
In the lemon garden there was also a tap right from a lemon tree that gave lemonade
Touch
We swam in a clay river and floated along in a sea salt river
Motion
We slid along slides, we walked up a hill with houses built to look like they were going down the hill which made it super strange for the body to move. Heavy going down stairs, easy going up.
It looked like the water in the river floated up the hill
Body Position
Where is up and down when a house is sideways or upside down?
